For those that might not know, quite a few digital board games have gone on sale this week. This coincides with the annual App Store Connect downtime, a period when the App Store closes to new app submissions and updates during the holidays. Usually, many developers will throw their apps on sale during this time. I think they do this in the hopes of earning sales from people who get their new devices for the holidays and want something to play. Regardless of the reason, sales on games are always good in my book.
So far, we’ve seen sales from Asmodee Digital, Handelabra Games, and Playdek. Update: added Acram Digital.
Asmodee Digital has the largest collection of offerings, with popular titles such as Scythe, Terraforming Mars, Splendor, Ticket Tide, Pandemic, A Game of Thrones, and many more. Their winter sale is offering up to 70% off on many of their titles. You can get their games for iOS, Android, and Steam.
Handelabra Games is offering 50% of Aeons End and Spirit Island. Spirit Island was recently released on iOS and is free to try out with a $19.99 IAP to buy the full game. They also have bundles on sale for some of their older titles, such as Sentinels of the Multiverse. You can get their games for iOS, Android, and Steam.
Playdek is offering 50% off on their titles. Some of their games include Twilight Struggle, Fort Sumpter, and Lords of Waterdeep. You can get their games for iOS, Android, and Steam.
Acram Digital has launched their sale today too. Their games include Charterstone, Eight-Minute Empire, Steam: Rails to Riches, and Istanbul. You can get their games for iOS, Android, Steam, and the Nintendo Switch.
No word yet if other developers are going to follow suit, but we’ll update this article with links if we find additional developers joining the winter sale.
