Casual Game Revolution

There are very few print magazines dedicated to tabletop gaming. Unsurprisingly, most everything has moved online. It’s just a sign of the digital age we live in today. However, there are still some dedicated magazines out there that are both online and something you can hold in your hands and read.

CGR DefinitionCasual Game Revolution magazine is one of the few print magazines that I still try and read. I have always appreciated their high quality photography in the magazine and diverse articles. The magazine is published each quarter with board game news, interviews, and reviews focused on the casual board game niche. Their website describes a casual game as, “A board (or card) game is played in under an hour, set up and taught in under 10 minutes, and requires some light strategic thought. Casual games are not specifically marketed to children, but can be enjoyed by anyone from older children to adults.” The magazine itself can be found online via PDF or at Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million stores.

Today marks the launch of their Kickstarter campaign to fund their 7th year of publication. If Casual Game Revolution sounds like a magazine you might be interested in head over to their campaign page and check it out. There is also a PDF download of a sample issue if you want to check it out.
